Overview
Thank you for your interest in the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library! The Library is a terrific place to work. Most of the people who work at the library are pages, circulation clerks and librarians.
Librarians
These positions are primarily full-time. Librarians answer questions, locate materials for the school, work or personal interests of library users and present programs such as story times or book talks. Depending on their degree, librarians may also be responsible for selecting materials for the library’s collection.
The majority of our librarians, classified as Librarian IIs, have graduate degrees from ALA-accredited library schools.
Librarian Is, a smaller segment of our librarian staff, are required to have a bachelor’s degree. Experience working with the public, especially children, is desirable.
We continuously accept resumes from librarians who have the ALA-accredited library degree.
We accept resumes for the Librarian I (bachelor’s degree) positions only when there are vacancies to fill. On these occasions, we often advertise in local newspapers.

Circulation Clerks
These positions may be part-time or full time. Circulation clerks work directly with the public to handle tasks related to the circulation of library materials: checking materials in and out, handling library card and overdue issues, etc. This position requires direct customer service experience, computer experience and clerical skill, including a minimum, accurate keyboarding speed of 35 wpm.
We accept applications for circulation clerks only when we have vacancies to fill. On these occasions, we often advertise in local newspapers.

Adult applicants must have a high school diploma or a GED to be considered.
