Volunteen Appreciation/Game Day (W) July 30, 3 - 4 p.m. Grades 6-12
Before there was the Internet and Wii, there was a time when we would play games one-on-one and work puzzles that we actually had to touch. We celebrate Volunteens--the good work they've done and the hands-on experience they've gained by volunteering at the library--with old-school board games, puzzles, pizza, punch and prizes.

Kids gotta rock with Mr. Richard's original and traditional tunes involving the entire audience. Kids of all ages will be singing and clapping along from the very beginning. This program has been made possible by a generous contribution from Directions Credit Union.

Martial artist Tom Kempo sets the tempo during a presentation about the history and forms of martial arts. The focus is on basic moves and the importance of martial arts, which can improve self-control, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

Teens get the chance to participate in the historic U.S. presidential election by learning about candidates and issues and casting a vote for their favorite candidate. All 'voters' will be entered in a prize drawing.

Write and share a short book review. A great way to discover who's reading the same types of books as you, and to brush up on your public speaking skills. Who knows? A book discussion group or other kind of club might emerge.

For all the fans of Bella -- and vampires like Edward Cullen, and werewolves like Jacob Black. Dress up and discuss Stephenie Meyer's latest book (Break of Dawn) and what you hope/expect the new moon, er, movie ('Twilight') to be like.
